The library provides materials for education, entertainment and enrichment to our congregation and to the wider community. There are approximately 2,000 volumes covering a wide range of topics (Jewish history and holidays, biography, Holocaust, literature and cook books). The collection has reference books (e.g. Encyclopedia Judaica), videos, cassettes, and juvenile and adult fiction and non-fiction books. In 1977 the Sisterhood of the Sgoolai Israel Synagogue made a commitment to purchase a major portion of the library's collection and its furnishings. Members of the community contribute books and money to commemorate special occasions. At the present time there is ongoing support from an endowment fund from the Estate of Sam Budovitch. When donations are made, a bookplate is attached to recognize the donor and the occasion. Library is generally open for self-guided use. Users must fill out a book card in order to borrow a circulating item. For more information, please contact the librarian by e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
